What we see in Markham
The most common pestsin Markham homes.
The Rouge River valley and Rouge National Urban Park border many Markham neighbourhoods.
Peak: September to March
Cockroaches
German cockroaches spread between units through shared walls and plumbing, so apartments and townhouse rows often need neighbouring units treated too.
Bed bugs
They travel in luggage, used furniture and shared laundry rooms. Common in rentals, basement units and multi-unit buildings.
Ants and carpenter ants
Pavement ants march in each spring. Carpenter ants nest in damp or damaged wood around decks, windows and rooflines.
Wasps and mosquitoes
Wasp nests grow fastest in late summer under eaves and in sheds. Mosquitoes breed in standing water in yards, planters and eavestroughs.
